My daughter's first Christmas is just around the corner. In order to prepare and create lasting memories, I have created this beautiful ornament. Now I cannot promise that it was easy, however, it sure was fun! Charley is now almost five months and my friend's baby is eight months, and both of them worked for this craft.
Supplies needed...
Modge Podge
Glass piece (to stamp footprint onto)
Glitter
Sponge
Clear ornament
Construction paper (red and green)
Wooden rod
Hot-glue gun
Tweezers (optional)
Spray paint (optional)
Sharpie
Fake snow (optional)
Ribbon
Scissors
Toes of mistletoes..
For this part of the craft you will need to gather the first four items on the list above. I find that a thick coat of glue works best. Also for babies that wiggle their toes a lot, use a q-tip to get access glue off the crease between their toes and rest of foot. I found that mixing a bit of eyeshadow can turn white glitter into any color.
Use a sponge to evenly coat the foot
Press foot onto glass piece (be sure to get the toes good)
Sprinkle with glitter
Do a second coat of glitter and glue by painting on a second layer of glue onto the print
Sprinkle with glitter again (pic above shows difference between one coat and two)
Let dry
Once print is dry slowly peel back the foot print
Glue any loose toes to each other and the foot
Playing footsies..
From here on out use the hot glue gun
Take your footprints and glue them together at the top
Spray paint the feet if you didn't have the right color glitter you prefer
Cut the wooden rod to about three inches (at the end you can adjust the length)
Glue the rod to the sole of the feet about a centimeter down
Draw two sets of leaves (pictured) and cut out
Draw two sets of small red circles and cut out and glue to the leaves
Glue the leaves to both sides of the footprint
Ornament construction..
Add fake snow if desired
Gently fold the feet and leaves into a tube shape
Push into the ornament (gentle but not too slow)
Cut a hole into the metal ornament top
Use tweezers or any other tool to straighten out the toes and leaves (take your time)
Slip the wooden rod through the hole in the top and put the top on the ornament
Glue the rod to the small wire loop (allows the feet to stay in position)
Tie ribbon onto the loop and use scissors to make it curly
Thank you for reading my tutorial! You could always use a sharpie to write onto the ornament. I suggest take your time and enjoy crafting!
