The Best Fondue

Updated: Feb 22, 2019

If you love cheese as much as I do then this recipe is for you! This was very delicious and a fan favorite at a holiday party. Having a variety of dipping elements is what I feel is the most important aspect of a fondue night. Creating fondue is one of the easiest things that you can do for your dinner party. I hope you enjoy!

One package is approximately 1/3 lb

Ingredients needed for fondue:

1/3 lb fontina

1/3 lb gouda

1/3 lb gruyere

1 clove of garlic

1 cup of dry white wine

2 Tbs cornstarch

1 Tbs brandy

1 Tbs lemon juice

1 tsp Dijon mustard

1/8 tsp nutmeg

Getting cheesy..

Shred the cheese in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the cornstarch. Make sure to mix the cornstarch throughout the cheese, it helps the fondue to be smooth instead of lumpy.

In a medium pot combine the wine, garlic, and lemon juice. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Add the cheese to the mixture, one small handful at a time. Between handfuls of cheese, be sure to stir with a spatula. Once the cheese is smooth, stir the nutmeg, brandy, and mustard.

Pour the cheese into a fondue pot and enjoy!

Dippers..

There are many options for what to dip into cheese. I have numbered the list below from my most favorite to just favorite.

  1. Cherry tomatoes

  2. Tart apples

  3. Bread

  4. Roasted potatoes

  5. Pickles

  6. Steamed broccoli

  7. Grapes

  8. Meat

  9. Carrots

  10. Pretzels

I know you will enjoy this deliciously smooth fondue recipe. I found that the brandy was almost like a secret ingredient. Without the brandy the melted cheese would not have been as decadent and scrumptious! I recommend with any fondue that a light salad is served alongside the party.
